Virat Kohli mentions ‘media’ in a major statement on RCB comeback after 2-month hiatus

India National Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli spoke about his emotions on returning to cricket after a 2-month break in a video shared by the Bengaluru-based franchise on Monday, March 18.

Kohli has been out of action since withdrawing from the five-match Test series against England National Cricket Team to stay with his family at the time of the birth of his son Akaay.

The last appearance of Virat Kohli in an international match came during the T20I series against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team, which was held in January. He tried to play aggressive cricket in the series and smashed 29 runs off 16 balls, with 5 fours, in his first outing before bagging a duck in the next match.

Kohli will return to action on March 22 when the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) take on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chepauk in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Ahead of the commencement of the marquee T20 league, the batting superstar joined the training session on Monday, March 18. In the video shared online, he was soon doing fielding as well as batting drills with his RCB teammates.

It’s always exciting to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season – Virat Kohli

In the video shared by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on their official X handle, Virat Kohli said he is excited to be back in Bengaluru for the IPL 2024. He added that during his 2-month break, he wasn’t off the media radar and was actually into normalcy.

It’s really good to be back, firstly playing cricket and just starting off the IPL,” Kohli said in the video.

“It’s always exciting to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season. So, similar emotions, similar feelings and I haven’t been off the media radar. I have been into the normalcy, you can say, for two months. So, yeah, I am pretty happy and excited to be back and I hope all the fans are excited and happy as well,” said Kohli.

Virat Kohli also made his presence felt during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final where the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched their first-ever title when the Smriti Mandhana-led side beat Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals in a low-scoring thriller.

After the match, Kohli joined the celebrations and video-called Smriti Mandhana to congratulate the team for ending the trophy drought of the franchise.

Recently, reports emerged that claimed that Virat Kohli might be dropped from the India squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 as the selection committee felt that his batting style wouldn’t be suitable on the pitches on the offer in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.

Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the history of T20I cricket. In 117 T20Is, he has slammed 4037 runs at an amazing average of 51.75 at a decent strike rate of 138.15. The top-order batsman has smashed 1 hundred and 37 fifties in the format with the best score of 122*. He was brilliant in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as he finished as the top run-getter in the competition, scoring 296 runs at an astonishing average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.4 with 4 fifty-plus scores.
