Rajasthan Royals (RR) have suffered a blow to their spin attack with the news that Adam Zampa has withdrawn from the upcoming IPL season.
The Royals will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday afternoon in Jaipur.
Short notice withdrawal
Zampa, who was retained by the Royals ahead of the players’ auction in December last year, has informed the franchise that he will not be participating in IPL 2024. His decision comes just a day before the tournament kicks off in Chennai.
Zampa’s withdrawal necessitates adjustments to the Royals’ bowling attack. The franchise might have to rely more heavily on Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, or explore options among their remaining spinners.
Reason why Adam Zampa pulled out of IPL 2024
Zampa’s manager confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that the Australian cricketer’s decision stems from a desire to prioritize his young family. He has also endured a demanding schedule in recent months, participating in the Big Bash League (BBL) for Melbourne Stars followed by white-ball series against India, West Indies and New Zealand.
