Earlier in 2018, they beat the West Indies by 106 runs at Mt Manganui, although the West Indies lost 8 wickets to Seva for 79 runs.

Bangladesh lost Murshida Khatun in the third over in the run chase. He was lbw to medium pacer Hayley Jensen. Debutant Dilara Akhter and captain Nigar Sultana returned within 3 balls of Lia Tahuyu in the fourth over. Both caught. Bangladesh lost 2 more wickets in power play.

Farzana Haque became Jensen’s second victim in the fifth over, while Rumana Ahmed was Tahuyu’s third victim in the next over. Bangladesh lost 5 wickets within 12 runs. Bangladesh has never lost the first 5 wickets by so few runs before.

Fahima Khatun and Ritu Moni added 15 runs in the sixth wicket, the highest pair in Bangladesh’s innings. Fahima came back with a catch from Amelia Carr in the 11th over, Ritu became Tahuyu’s fourth victim in the next over.

Salma Khatun and Nahida Akhtar – both are bold. The first is by Jensen, the second by Fran Jones. After Nahida in the 15th over, Jahanara Alam also fell victim to Jones. After losing the first 5 wickets for 12 runs, Bangladesh also lost the last 5 wickets within 12 runs. Bangladesh were bowled out in 14.5 overs.

Earlier, two openers Sophie Devine and Suzy Bates gave New Zealand a great start after winning the toss and batting. In the 11th over, Nahida broke the pair of 84 runs by returning Bates who scored 41 runs from 33 balls. Jahanara returned captain Devine in the next over, New Zealand lost 2 wickets by 8 runs.

But Amelia Carr and Maddie Green added 42 runs for the third wicket. Ritu returned with 27 runs from 21 balls but Green was unbeaten in the end with 36 runs from 23 balls. Green added 30 runs for the fifth wicket against Tahuyu. Nigger brought 7 bowlers.

The second T20 of the series is in Dunedin on December 4. Bangladesh will also play three ODIs after three T20Is in this tour.
