The injury woes are turning from bad to worse for the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that star batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.
Mushfiqur Rahim will be missing the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a fractured right thumb. The Veteran batter faced the injury during the third ODI against Sri Lanka and has been deemed unfit to play in the upcoming series, which will also be part of the World Test Championship.
A source close to Cricbuzz confirmed that Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the entire Test series against Sri Lanka. He stated: “He (Mushfiqur) is ruled out from the series due to the fracture.”
Mushfiqur Rahim after facing an injury in the third ODI against Bangladesh went for the scans and the MRI didn’t come in his favor, ruling him out of the the Test series against Sri Lanka. Even though he was battling pain, he made sure that he played a vital hand for his team.
Mushfiqur Rahim played a sensible knock for the team and guided his team to the win that helped them clinch the series as well. He stood tall for the team when it mattered the most. In the chase, Bangladesh was under pressure and lost wickets early.
Mushfiqur Rahim looked rocked solid at the crease and played unbeaten at 37 runs off 36 balls. He slammed three fours and 1 six in his innings. He hit the winning shot as Bangladesh won the game with 4 wickets in hand and sealed the series by the margin of 2-1, having lost the T20I series early.
With Mushfiqur Rahim being ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka, it will be a huge blow for the Bangladesh team. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to name the replacement for the keeper-batter but it’s fair to say that to fill his void will be a tough task. He has been the leading run-getter for the team in the longest format of the game.
The Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will kick start from 22nd March. The game will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. The second game of the series will be played on 30th March at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
